With spring just around the corner, thoughts turn to sherbet rather than snow. The Cuisinart ICE 45 Mix It In soft serve ice cream maker offers an easy and fun way to make cooling treats. The unit is unique in that it has the capability to dispense toppings like confetti sprinkles and larger condiments while simultaneously dispensing soft-serve ice cream into cones or bowls.

The Cuisinart ICE 45 eliminates the need for ice or salt with the 1-½-quart freezer bowl. Most of the recipes in the manual require the use of a blender to mix the ingredients and the freezer bowl needs space in the freezer. The unit does require a bit of space; however, at 17.2 inches tall, it will fit in most spaces between the counter top and the upper wall cabinet.

Reading the user’s manual presents quite a few rules for using the Cuisinart Mix It In soft serve ice cream maker, but all of them are easy to follow. One rather odd suggestion states that the freezer bowl should be wrapped in a plastic bag to prevent freezer burn while storing.

The lid of the ice cream maker can be removed. The lid is designed to lock easily. The lid has a window to allow the user to watch the freezing process.
The machine’s heavy-duty motor has enough power to produce and dispense the ice cream. The machine’s mixing arm mixes and aerates the ingredients to produce smooth ice cream in the freezer bowl.
The Cuisinart ICE 45 dispenses ice cream when the user pulls down on the handle of the dispensing bracket. Nonslip rubber feet hold the unit in place while it is being used.
The 1.5-quart freezer bowl has a double-insulated wall that contains cooling liquid. The freezer bowl has to be frozen prior to using it in the machine.
The machine has 3 containers to store mix-in condiments that are dispensed from a chute into your ice cream cone or bowl while you dispense the ice cream from the unit. One condiment container is for small items like sprinkles while the other two is for larger condiments. The machine comes with a gauge in the form of a plastic cone to test whether the condiments you would like to use is the correct size to be compatible with the machine. If they do not fit through the gauge then they will clog the ice cream maker. Condiments in each compartment have a separate lever to dispense each of their contents.
The unit has a on/off dial and a handy cone holder.
The unit has a drip tray under the dispenser to catch any spills or drips and it is removable for easy cleaning. The drip tray also has a dot to indicate to the user where the cone or bowl should be held while dispensing ice cream.
The product dimensions are 9.9 by 7.8 by 17.2 inches.
